Bio

35 years working with local and international artist, collaborating with production and promotion companies, creating staging masterpieces for artists to perform is just a glimpse of what Wayne has been doing in Jamaica for the last several decades.

It all started late 1960’s downtown Kingston when Wayne and his cousin built the first Mobile Record Van “Swing a Ling” They would park the van downtown -Parade- selling records. 

You could also find Wayne working at Club Green Mist as a Stage Manager setting up equipment and conducting sound checks for renowned artists such as Family Man, Tyrone Downey.

Artists that would sing at the Green Mist were Bob Marley, Delroy Wilson, and Freddie McKay, John Holt, and Carl Darkin, to name a few.

Expertise

Wayne moved to Canada early 70’s where he started True Tone Promotion Company providing sound equipment for events such as weddings, live concerts, and stage shows. Wayne was also participated in Caribana providing sound systems for. 

By the early 80’s Wayne was promoting stage shows and bringing Reggae artists to Toronto, Canada.  These live shows artist were staged at the infamous Masonic Temple.

True Tone was the first promotion company to start promoting live concerts providing artist such as TenorSaw, Wayne Smith and Chaka Demius a platform to perform live in Canada.

Upon returning to Jamaica in the mid 80’s Wayne was sought after for his technical ability and up-to-date staging equipment.  This lead to production on shows for acts such as Reggae Sun Splash, Sting, Reggae Sum Fest. 

With notoriety in the industry which lead to international productions for Tele Food, Gladys Knights, Isly Brothers, Bob Marley; One Love Concert, Tall Pony Productions, Heritage and Jazz, Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues and all foreign shows for Luther Vandross, Dionne Warwick, Patti Labelle,  and Smoky Robinson.

When the 90’s rolled in Wayne was on top of his game, True Tone was the number one Sound company in Jamaica.

By 2000, True Tone was and remains till this day the largest Light, Sound, Stage and Power company to hit Jamaica.
